This thickener/thixotropic agent can be used to thicken silicones such as:

TFC Silicone Rubber Type 1
TFC Silicone Rubber Type 2
TFC Silicone Rubber Type 3

.

This allows a liquid silicone to be mixed into a spreadable or spreadable silicone.

Silicones can thus be applied to vertical surfaces such as walls, ceilings, furniture, or decorations without silicone running or dripping.

Larger objects can also be molded with silicone layers using the brushing method and provided with a supporting shell instead of making a full silicone mold.

The thixotropic agent can be used for addition-curing and condensation-curing silicones.

It However, it is NOT suitable as an additive for food-grade silicones - this will generally invalidate the food-grade silicones' approval for use with food.

Processing

The addition rate is 1% to a maximum of 3% by weight.
Example: For 100g of total silicone, add 1g to a maximum of 3g of thixotropic agent.

For silicones with the same mixing ratio, add half the amount of thixotropic agent to component A and component B before mixing both components A and B and check the viscosity of both components.
Once the viscosity of both components is as desired, mix both components according to the silicone's processing instructions.

If the silicone is a condensation-curing silicone (usually recognizable by a mixing ratio other than 1:1), add the thixotropic agent only to the silicone component.
Once the desired viscosity is reached, add the crosslinking component.
