Alginate is a problem-free impression material that allows for quick and easy hollow molds (negative molds) to be taken from an original model.

This impression material is completely safe and can also be applied to the skin.

Alginates are used in professional makeup artists.

Due to its short processing time, this alginate is ideal for molding baby hands and feet and was designed for this purpose. Erotic body molds (breasts, buttocks) are also possible quickly, easily, and cost-effectively.

Many studios or theaters use this alginate to create a perfect impression of an actor's face.

Alginate (red)
An alginate for taking impressions.

Possible mixing ratios by weight:

2 parts water, 1 part alginate for a solid impression material
3 parts water, 1 part alginate for a medium consistency

Water temperature:

Use water (approx. 12 degrees Celsius) and, if possible, distilled water.
A higher water temperature shortens the working time.

Mixing order:

For a lump-free mixture, add the alginate to the water in portions.

Mixing:

Mix the components thoroughly for approximately 30-40 seconds until a homogeneous consistency is achieved.

Process a small test amount beforehand to familiarize yourself with the material.

CAUTION

Pay close attention to the maximum mixing time. If you stir the material beyond the setting point, it will no longer set, similar to pudding, where constant stirring also prevents the formation of a skin.

Application:

Apply the alginate to the object or body part to be molded. The material will fully harden after about one minute from the start of mixing at 23 degrees Celsius. Depending on the selected mixing ratio, the resulting consistency will be jelly- or pudding-like after hardening, with a firm consistency comparable to a sliceable sausage, such as mortadella.
Please note the extremely short processing time if you wish to process larger quantities at once.
A maximum of 300g is recommended in one processing step, depending on the mixing ratio and water temperature.

Notes

The alginate mold can be strengthened and supported by applying plaster bandages.

The finished mold contains a high water content, shrinks due to the evaporation of the moisture, and should be poured promptly, i.e., no more than 2-3 hours after curing.
